Criminal Defense

Our office has been handling DUI and drug cases for several years, and we realize the ramifications of a possible conviction-emotionally, financially and professionally. It is extremely important to win your first DUI because the next time you are pulled over by a law enforcement official they will pull your driving record and see that you were convicted for a previous DUI. Therefore, we would like to give you the benefit of our professional experience by offering you a FREE CONSULTATION. If you decide to retain our services, you will not have to personally appear at your arraignment. Also, at your trial, you will not have to speak at all.

 DUI

If you have recently been charged with driving under the influence, you’re probably confused and worried: Will I be able to drive to work? Will my automobile insurance increase? Will I go to jail? What steps should I take to protect my legal rights? Being arrested for a DUI is serious. In the state of Mississippi, first and second DUI convictions within a period of five years are classified as misdemeanors. However, a third DUI conviction is a felony if it occurs within five years of being convicted for a first offense DUI.

First time convicts face fines of up to $1000, two days in jail (or at a DUI Victims Impact Panel), attendance in an alcohol safety and education program, and driver’s license suspension for 90 days to one year. Penalties increase with a second offense and may include up to a year in jail. Third offenses are felonies and require one to five years in the State Penitentiary, vehicle seizure, five year license suspension, and fines of up to $5000.
